CHATEAU NINE PEAKS AT LA CITE DU VIN

La Cité du Vin, the long awaitedmuseum-themepark and architectural wonder, openeditsdoorsWednesday, June 1, 2016. A stunning addition to Bordeaux’slandscape, The City of Wineisalso a place to eat, taste, drink and buygreatwinefrom all over the world.
Tenyears in the makingat a cost of $103 million, La Cité du Vin is one of the wineworld’smostambitiousprojectsdesigned to encapsulate the history and magic of wine. Eventhoughit’s in Bordeaux, France, according to CEO Philippe Massol, it’s “a place for the whole world of wine.”
Designed by Paris architects Anouk Legendre and Nicolas Desmazières, the shape of the building mirrors how wine looks whenit’spouredinto a glass. Glistening in gold and silvermetal plates ateight stories high, it’s the tallest building in the city center of Bordeaux. The heart of the building is a permanent 32,000-square-foot high-tech installation by British designers Dinah Casson and Roger Mann.
One of the main exhibitions, the Tasting Experience, walks visitors through their five senses, using multimedia, images, and olfactory stations to educate and immerse them in their surroundings. Upon entry, guests can download the digital companion, available in eight languages, to help navigate the space.
Château Nine Peaks wines, will be part of Latitude20, a complex that will accommodate areas dedicated to tastings (a wine bar and a gourmet snack bar) but above all a real World wine cellar with 800 wines selected among the excellences coming from more than 80 Countries. The choice of the labels has been assigned to figures of the caliber of Andreas Larsson (World’s best sommelier in 2007) and Michel Rolland (famous winemaker and consultant). Right inside this space every product will be like a book: by reading the QR code on every bottle it will be possible to watch a short video of Andreas Larsson speaking about the wine and the company.
The projects will welcome 400,000 visitors over the next year, with 80 percent coming from outside Bordeaux.
